Via Verde
Nestled in the heart of Meanwood at 58 Green Rd, Via Verde is the kind of place you discover once and instantly want to keep to yourself-but you won’t, because it’s just too good not to share. Whether you're strolling in from a quiet afternoon or planning an intimate dinner with wine, Via Verde wraps you in warmth with its rustic charm, inviting ambience, and a menu that speaks fluent comfort.
Let’s start with the vibe. Via Verde feels personal. It doesn’t scream for attention; it seduces with subtlety. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with soft lighting, wooden interiors, and the comforting aroma of slow-cooked sauces and freshly baked bread. For those who value accessibility, the venue has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating, ensuring that everyone can settle in with ease.
Now, onto the food-where Via Verde really flexes its culinary muscle. One of the clear standouts is their Tournedos Rossini, a dish you won’t find just anywhere. The balance of perfectly seared fillet steak with velvety foie gras, layered on a toasted crostini and finished with rich Madeira sauce, shows a real command of classic technique. It’s indulgent, yes, but also beautifully refined. If you’re in the mood for something heartier, the Lasagne is a house favourite-oozing with béchamel, deeply savoury ragu, and topped with a bubbling golden crust.
For a more rustic Italian twist, the Orecchiette offers comfort in a bowl. Cooked al dente and tossed in a sauce that manages to be both rich and light, it’s a solid choice for pasta purists. Then there’s the Calzone, which arrives like a pillow of dreams-crispy on the outside, bursting with molten cheese, spiced meat, and a hint of garlic. And speaking of garlic, their Garlic Mushrooms Crostini hits just the right note between earthy and aromatic, making it an ideal starter or small plate if you want to ease in gently.
The drinks menu deserves its own applause. The wine list is carefully curated-think expressive reds from Italy, crisp whites from the Mediterranean coast, and a few cheeky rosés in between. Looking for something a little cozier? The Baileys Coffee is a winter evening in a mug, perfect to pair with dessert or just sip as you sink deeper into your chair.
Desserts are more than just an afterthought at Via Verde. The Chocolate Fudge Cake is unapologetically rich, layered thick, and served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that slowly melts into the fudge. It’s the kind of dish you order to share but end up finishing on your own. And honestly, no regrets.
Whether you're popping in for a solo lunch or planning a full-course dinner, Via Verde delivers. It’s popular for both lunch and dinner-locals clearly know a good thing when they see it-and solo diners will appreciate the calm, unpretentious atmosphere that makes eating alone feel like a treat rather than a necessity.
For those not dining in, they also offer delivery and takeaway, which means you can bring a little Via Verde magic back home. The quality holds up surprisingly well even when packaged, making it a reliable choice for those cozy nights in.
Drinks? Covered. The bar serves everything from beer and spirits to freshly brewed coffee and healthier options like fresh juices and small plates, for when you want to keep things light without compromising on flavour.
With its inviting setting, diverse offerings, and an ability to make both classics and chef specials shine, Via Verde manages to be more than just another Italian spot in Leeds. It feels curated, thoughtful-even personal. A true hidden gem with an open-door heart.

Amazing service, absolutely stunning food & lovely atmosphere
Ate here last night for the first time in years and was not disappointed food wise! Myself, husband, 1 year old and 5 years old. I had a pizza, husbands had lasagne & a creamy tomato mushroom pasta (made into a child’s portion) for my girls and all was enjoyed very much. Cooked to perfection. The puddings we also amazing! The only thing we didn’t realise was it’s not suited for little ones as there are no high chairs. We made it work luckily as we had the pram in the car and could fit it at the table we were at but for future we would have to dine without the 1 year old which I defiantly want to return for the food just a shame we can’t as a family. Apart from that it was a 10/10 for us and we thought the price was very reasonable.
It isn't a big restaurant but the foods are very tasty and good atmosphere. This place is always busy so you have to book in advance.
Loved the food here .... Very tasty and the chef ( hubby) makes all the meals in his open kitchen while his wife chats and explaining about the venue and good selection of wine and takes orders ect, son helps out as well..... Never felt rushed and all round good friendly experience for our first time. Will visit again when we are up north for definite!!!!! Xx
